I have one on my chest but that was nothing compared to this one. It felt like it was on fire and I almost passed out. It didn't help that the artist took a 15 minute break and when he came back, the pain was even worse. But in the end it was worth it. If you want it that bad go for it, the pain is only temporary! It depends on your pain tolerance. If you're wanting a dragonfly behind your ear, you're not going to be able to get much detailing in it because the area is so small. I have one on my neck...I thought it would be a piece of cake to get, since I have a tattoo that stretches all across my stomach and my artist said that was probably the most painful spot to get on, so I assumed if I could handle that with no problem...neck would be easy. It's not that bad towards the back, just behind the ear....but other than that it's pretty much unbearable.
