Question by gamesandtheory: What are the latest developments in laser tattoo removal?
It seems like every year or two there are jumps forward in the tattoo laser removal technology. I’ve got a pretty big one I’d like to remove with many colors and I’m waiting until the tech makes the process easier and more effective. How do I find out the doctors with the latest tools?

Best answer:

Answer by cpt m
Ask your family doctor, or call the hospital and ask them. They should be able to help.
As far as now, it is very, very expensive, you have to go back for many sessions, it hurts much more than the tattoo, the
color green will not be affected, and you will have a very bad scar in the shape of you tattoo.

sorry for the bad news…

Non Laser Tattoo Removal an Affordable Answer to Unwanted Tattoos

Laser procedures have become the standard treatment for tattoo removal. Laser removal works by emitting short bursts of intense light that pass through the upper layer of the skin to break the tattoo ink underneath into smaller fragments that are eventually removed by the immune system. Unfortunately for the millions of Americans who now regret getting their tattoos, laser removal is not cheap; it costs hundreds of dollars per treatment, and you may need several treatments to remove the tattoo depending on how large it is and how many colors it has. This explains the popularity of non laser tattoo removal methods that, aside from being non-invasive are affordable and will not cause scarring or other skin damage. The most widely adopted of these methods is the use of tattoo removal creams.

Tattoo removing creams work by penetrating the upper layer of skin to reach the tattoo ink underneath. The cream then causes the ink to dissolve and the tattoo to eventually fade away. They take several months to work, however, and their effectiveness depends on a number of factors, including skin pigmentation (the creams work better on light skin than dark), the size of the tattoo (small tattoos will fade away more easily than large ones), the type of ink used, and whether the tattoo is an old one or only recently acquired. Their ease of use (you can apply it yourself at home) and safety will ensure, however, that these creams will remain the most commonly used of non laser tattoo removal methods for some time to come.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal

We’ve all seen them – bad tattoos or unwanted ink. These mistakes are no longer permanent. Advanced laser technologies with multiple treatment wavelengths designed to treat many different tattoo ink colors have become very common.

What is laser tattoo removal?

Laser energy is directed at the tattooed area for a fraction of a second passing through the outer layer of the skin and targeting the tattoo ink directly. The laser disrupts the ink allowing your body to absorb it and break it down naturally.

How does it feel?

Laser tattoo removal is considered a low risk outpatient procedure. It has been described as the feeling of a rubber band snapping on the skin. The procedure is also often compared to the same feeling as getting tattoo but takes far less time, with most laser sessions ending in less than two minutes. because people react differently to even these low levels of pain a high powered topical aesthetic cream is often available to numb the affected area prior to treatments.

Many laser devices cool the skin’s surface without a cryogenic technique, such as the Cryo 5 Skin Cooler. This results in additional anaesthesia and comfort for the patient.

How many treatments are needed?

The process is not immediate. After the initial session the ink that was expose to the laser will be broken down and removed by your body’s immune system typically over a period of 6 – 8 weeks. Once the initial session and waiting period is completed you would normally return for your next visit repeating this process until the tattoo is gone.

Keep in mind that it usually takes several visits to see any results. as your body first starts to break down the ink, you may not see any significant changes yet. Typically by the middle stages of removal you will notice the black and darker colors of ink fading and the brighter inks such as red and blue gradually lightening. In the final stages, often after five – fifteen visits, a tattoo may be completely cleared although some stubborn colors such as white may not be removed.

However, most of the ink should, by this time , be disbursed and absorbed by your body. Your tattoo should now be non visible or barely visible at all.

Laser Tattoo Removal Before And After

Posted In: Laser Tattoo Removal by Adriana Tattoo Artista

Laser Tattoo Removal Before And After

People who had a tattoo done in their youth have a tendency to use the laser tattoo removal. However, it has been viewed now as outdated or as detrimental to a person’s career. There is some tendency among former gang members to have their gang tattoo’s removed and some other areas are having free removal services for such cases. Whatever reason you may have in removing your tattoo, the laser tattoo removal procedures are the most common as well as the most effective method for eliminating ink, but they are the most expensive techniques also. You may have seen some creams marketed to remove tattoos. But some of them are still being investigated for effectiveness and ends with not enough evidence. Also, laser tattoo removal is much more expensive than any home products which are cheaper and works well.

Before laser tattoo removal, your skin will still have to be evaluated as to condition and color in relation to ink color so that the best type of laser light delivery will be determined. You will be given protective eyewear to cover or shield your eyes from the laser light. Your doctor may recommend oral pain medication such as Tylenol and a topical anesthetic cream for an hour or two before treatment. The laser device fragments the ink with short pulses of intense concentrated laser light. Different laser lights are used for different ink colors. Black ink is easiest to remove, because black absorbs the full spectrum of light, while green, blue, red, and other colors require more targeted laser pulses. When passing the surface of your skin, the light is being absorbed by the tattooed pigments that cause them to break into small particles. Your body’s immune system then removes the fragmented tattooed particles. However, it is more difficult to remove your tattoos when it is in the hands and feet where there is less circulation.

After the procedure, you will be given some anti-bacterial ointment as well as bandaging on the treated area. Your doctor will instruct you to keep the treated area elevated to avoid swelling and also to avoid the sun. You may feel a slight sunburn sensation in just a couple of days and have redness for a few weeks.

St. Louis Laser Tattoo Removal Technology

The newest technology for removing tattoos with a laser is called Q-switch. There are several offices in the St. Louis area that use this technique. Here is more information about it.

Lasers have been used for removing tattoos since the early 1990s, although the effectiveness of the method was first reported in the late 1960s. Lasers are also used for other cosmetic purposes, such as permanently removing hair and rejuvenating the skin.

Offices that offer the procedures include hair-removal clinics, cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists and some day spas. They may refer to the procedure as Q-switch, pulsed light or simply laser therapy. Q-switch technology is use by most modern clinics and spas that perform these services.

The first lasers put out a continuous stream of light. Q-switching creates a pulsed beam which has a much higher output then the old continuous beam lasers.

Today pulsed beams are used because they are more effective, can accomplish the same results with fewer treatments and in general are less painful. It feels something like a rubber band being snapped against your skin. The pulsed beams also have the advantage of being less likely to burn or cause other damage to the area being treated.

Out of all the lasers that use the Q-switch technology, the Medlite C6 is considered the best for tattoo removal. The high energy, short pulse technology of the Medlite C6 allows tattoos to be treated with minimal risk of scarring and less discomfort than any other laser system. Another big advantage it has over other lasers is the ability to output four different wavelengths. This makes it possible to treat more colors, as opposed to other laser systems which are less effective on all but the darker colors.  Vanishing Point is one of the few places that use this technology in the St. Louis area.

Lasers remove tattoos by working with the body’s lymphatic system which naturally removes impurities from the body, and cause tattoos to eventually fade. By shattering the tattoo ink into very small particles, lasers speed up this process. This makes it easier for the particles to be cleared by the body’s lymphatic system, causing no harm to the body.

Dark color ink responds better to laser tattoo removal treatments than lighter colors. For example black and red are easier to remove than yellow and green.

Some parlors are using a new kind of ink for their tattoos. The ink is called Infinitink. It was created with the purpose of being able to be removed in one laser treatment. Other inks on the market will take several treatments (at least 3) to produce the results most people are after.

If you got your tattoo before 2009 and live in the St. Louis area, you would most likely need no less than three laser sessions to see a drastic fade in the colors. Before 2009 Infinitink was not used very often. When first introduced, it was only available in black, but is now being produced in other colors.

Professionals in St. Louis who perform laser tattoo removal advise their clients to wait 6 to 8 weeks between treatments. The ink continues to break up and fade over that period of time. Allowing several weeks between appointments also reduces the risk of burning or damaging the skin.

The cost of laser tattoo removal can vary greatly between the specialists in the St. Louis area. Usually you will get quotes between 0 and 0 per visit, depending on how large and how many tattoos you want treated.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal

Recent statistics indicate that over 50 % of people who have tattoos now regret them and wish and are interested in having them removed. Lots of research is needed to be sure you get a great tattoo design.

The cost associated with laser tattoo removal will depend on a variety of factors. These factors can include whether the tattoo is large, The tattoos location (forearms and ankles are usually the hardest to treat), the type of ink that was used, there are currently over 100 inks on the market, how colorful to artwork is, your skin type, how deep the ink is, as well as your own bodies ability to rid itself of the ink naturally through your immune system.  These will all play a role in determining the overall cost of tattoo removal. Laser tattoo removal is now considered the ‘gold standard’ of all the removal techniques.  However, its costs can range from a minimum of 0 per visit and can often require between 3 and 10+ visits.

Laser sessions are know to cause some amount of discomfort, described as similar to having your skin snapped with a rubber band. In sensitive patients a topical anesthetic is usually an option although the majority of patients do have the treatment performed without an anesthetic. Each laser session usually only takes a few minutes to complete.  The darker pigments, ironically, seem to remove the easiest with laser treatments.  These include blacks, dark reds and blues. Analysis of tattoo inks has shown that the most common elements are aluminum, titanium, and carbon. A high amount of titanium has been found proven as a main reason for poor response to laser therapy. Other colors that are not as easily removed with a lot of lasers are greens, yellows, lighter reds or oranges and turquoise.

Waiting longer periods of time between laser sessions has also shown to produce better results. It isn’t the laser that removes the ink – it only fragments it.  Your immune system absorbs the broken-down ink fragments and this process always takes time.  Patients are quite often told to wait between 4–6 weeks before returning for another session but you may find that waiting up to 8 weeks will provide even better results , being patient like this can also save you money from having fewer sessions.  The overall number of sessions required and treatment spacing is also dependent on the area of the body that is being treated and your skin color. Forearm and ankle tattoos are generally known to take the longest.

Some of the most common lasers in use today are Q-Switched.  This just means the laser is pulsed very rapidly.  This causes the ink to be heated to fragmentation temperature which is enough to break down the ink particles while protecting the tissue around it possibly causing burns or scars.

It is essential that your technician is using a type of laser that is suited to your tattoo’s dye colors. This is not one-laser-fits-all technology.  Different laser types produce different colors of light. The laser-produced color is key to it’s effectiveness on removing particular colors of tattoo ink.  For example, green light is readily absorbed by red dyes and red light is very well absorbed by green ink.

Some of these lasers will only emit one color in their light beam, not good if you have multiple colors and you’re treated with a single. Many times, two or more laser wavelengths are required to solve this problem.

Lasers developed since 2007 produce multiple wavelengths and can treat a broader range of tattoo pigments than previous Q-switched lasers. An example of this newer sort is the Versa Plus. It can produce a wide range of light colors to treat the full spectrum of tattoo ink colors.

Another technique for removing tattoos is tattoo removal creams.  These products are normally considered to be fading agents. Success with these products seems to be consistent use – users will need to be persistent. These methods typically show the best results after a number of months of continual use.

Noticeable changes will not take place overnight. The upside of these products is their relatively low cost; they also do not come with the kind of risks associated with surgical methods.

Please visit tattoo removel for further reading on these products. You can see how users have rated some of the top products on the market. All of the products at tattoo removal creams including wrecking balm tattoo removal and tat med allow users to cast a vote (to rate) these products.

Laser Tattoo Removal Surgery In India At Low Cost-Tattoo Removal India

Laser Tattoo Removal Surgery In India

The principle of selective thermolysis can be applied towards the removal of tattoos. The energy delivered by a number of different lasers is targeted towards the carbon particles or dyes that are found in skin tattoos, allowing selective destruction of the foreign pigment while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

Lasers may be used on professional, amateur, cosmetic, medicinal, and traumatic tattoos. The different colors present in the tattoos may respond differently to laser tattoo removal. Lasers offer a non-invasive and effective treatment for unwanted tattoos. ……….

How Do Lasers Remove Tattoos ?

The laser device fragments the ink with short pulses of intense, concentrated laser light. The method of delivery and the wavelengths used are designed to target only the tattooed pigments, without affecting the surrounding pigments and layers of skin. Different laser lights are used for different ink colors. Black ink is easiest to remove, because black absorbs the full spectrum of light, while green, blue, red, and other colors require more targeted laser pulses…………

How many treatments are necessary for tattoo removal ?

Tattoos require multiple treatment sessions, usually performed at 4-8 week intervals or longer. Tattoo lightening may continue for several months after the last treatment session. Amateur black tattoos typically respond better than professional tattoos…….

Results

In many cases it will. Often greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, it is important to know that there are many, many types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink was used, or how deeply it was applied, makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo.
